EVChargePoint
Privacy Policy
How EVChargePoint handles website, fuel search, map, AI, and assistant app privacy.
This policy is written for the current EVChargePoint website and fuel intelligence features. It is general information about our privacy practices and should be reviewed when new account, payment, login, or personalised features are added.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how EVChargePoint handles information when you use our website, fuel price tools, map features, Fuel Intelligence AI, and related assistant or connector experiences.
EVChargePoint is designed to help Australians compare fuel stations, prices, brands, suburbs, states, and map-based results. Most public pages can be used without creating an account or directly providing identifying information.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect information you provide through searches, filters, map interactions, AI questions, support requests, or other interactions with the service. This can include suburbs, postcodes, selected stations, brands, fuel types, radius settings, map coordinates, and free-text questions.
We also process technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as request metadata, browser or device information, error information, usage patterns, and service logs.
3. Cookies and Browser Storage
EVChargePoint uses browser storage to keep the service usable between visits. This includes map filter cookies, selected map or location cookies, theme preference local storage, and local storage used to count daily Fuel Intelligence AI usage limits.
These preferences help restore your map settings, selected area, interface theme, and AI usage state. You can clear them through your browser settings or by using controls in the service where available.
4. Location and Map Features
When you search by suburb, postcode, address, station, map position, or radius, EVChargePoint uses that location context to return relevant station and price results. Some selected map locations may be saved in your browser so the map can reopen around the same area.
Map search, map tiles, directions links, and related location tools may use third-party map services such as Mapbox and Google Maps. Those services handle their own requests under their own privacy practices.
5. Fuel Intelligence AI
When you use Fuel Intelligence AI, your question and recent chat context may be sent to the EVChargePoint backend and to OpenAI API services so the assistant can understand follow-up questions and produce grounded fuel answers.
EVChargePoint may store chat turns, model details, tool usage, token usage, timestamps, and error information for service quality, debugging, monitoring, and improving the reliability of fuel answers. Please do not include sensitive personal information in AI questions.
6. ChatGPT App and Connector Use
If you open or use EVChargePoint through a ChatGPT app, connector, or shared ChatGPT app URL, ChatGPT may send EVChargePoint the parts of your request needed to run fuel tools. This can include postcode, suburb, station, brand, fuel type, radius, coordinates, map intent, and similar fuel-search details.
EVChargePoint returns read-only station, price, map, widget, and tool-result data to ChatGPT so it can answer your request and render the app experience. Your ChatGPT conversation and ChatGPT account experience are also governed by OpenAI's own data controls and policies.
If EVChargePoint later adds login, OAuth, account linking, or personalised account features, this policy must be updated before launch to describe account fields, permissions, token handling, retention, and revocation options.
7. How We Use Information
We use information to provide fuel search results, station details, map results, AI answers, saved preferences, service limits, security protections, troubleshooting, analytics, and product improvements.
We do not sell personal information. We aim to limit information collection and processing to what is needed to operate, protect, maintain, and improve EVChargePoint.
8. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We may share information with service providers that help operate EVChargePoint, including hosting, database, infrastructure, mapping, AI, monitoring, and assistant platform providers.
Current feature-relevant providers may include OpenAI for AI processing, Mapbox for map search and map rendering, Google Maps for outbound directions links, Vercel or similar hosting infrastructure, database providers, and ChatGPT or Claude-style assistant hosts when you use connector or app flows.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the security or integrity of the service, or to respond to lawful requests.
9. Security and Retention
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information handled by the service. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including operating the service, debugging issues, monitoring reliability, complying with legal obligations, and protecting the service.
10. Access, Correction, and Deletion
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information EVChargePoint holds about you, subject to reasonable verification and legal or operational limits.
For privacy questions or requests, please contact EVChargePoint using the current support details provided by the service.
11. Children
EVChargePoint is intended for people seeking fuel, driving, station, and EV charging information. It is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Overseas Processing
Some service providers may process or store information outside Australia. Where this occurs, we use those providers to operate, protect, or improve EVChargePoint and expect them to handle information under their applicable privacy and security commitments.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our features, providers, information practices, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised last updated date.
14. Contact
For questions, privacy requests, or complaints about this policy, please contact EVChargePoint using the current support details provided by the service. We will review privacy requests and complaints and respond within a reasonable time.
